A policy name can sound reassuring without answering the questions that matter. Write down the people, services and financial risks you want to protect against. Then find the actual coverage document for the option you are considering.

Four figures are not one price

Ask for the version, not the slogan

Write the exact policy name and year beside each promise you hear. If you cannot locate a benefit, limitation or renewal term in the current documents, mark it as a question rather than an assumed feature.

Keep categories distinct

Health, life, dental and vision insurance answer different risks. A common-looking price or “coverage” label does not make their contracts interchangeable. The guide index separates the questions each document should resolve.

Leave room for an unanswered question

A useful comparison sheet includes a column for uncertainty. An exclusion, network entry or waiting period that remains unclear is a reason to ask the issuer for written clarification. The pre-quote question sheet gives a way to keep that record.
